The GeoDirectory plugin is probably the most essential plugin in creating our ELN. In commercial settings, this plugin is commonly used for creating directories that utilize geo-locations for different types of items. Examples include restaurants, real estate, hotels, and other types of businesses. To accommodate these items, the GeoDirectory plugin has some basic data types that include plain text or rich text fields, integers, decimals, URLs, file uploads, images, checkboxes, radio select buttons, drop-downs, and date and time fields. With some creativity, we can re-purpose these fields for our research data.

GeoDirectory also makes it easy to display and filter the data in an organized manner. This will be covered in a later lesson dealing with the GeoDirectory details.
